APQS Mini Quilt Swap "Falling Leaves"

My mini quilt swap mate is " Lyn Crump" from Australia,   received her mini quilt yesterday and she loved it.   This was part of an exchange through APQS forum.    We email our preferences to a co-ordinator Shannon.....then Shannon  gave us the details as whom we were to make the quilt for.    Named the quilt "Falling Leaves" as the fabric has  fall tones of deep purple and green.   The quilt  is  26" square  used  QD wool batting.... thread was so fine top and bottom line bobbin.   I designed the mini so it would look like a whole cloth  on the backside.   This was a little bit of a challenge but lots of fun.   My feathers  are not as plumb as they should be,  I was a little up tight not as relaxed when quilting,  as I was caring for my motherwhile working on this mini.

The quilt was wet in these photos,  makes the quilting shows up a little better.
Made a quilted card added a thread cutter for Lyn for  small gift.   Had a mini class at the quilt expo on making quilted cards.   Nice way to use up scraps.

Found Something Tiny

Look what I found this morning.   I was sitting at the computer when I could hear this horrible screaming,  first I thought it was a bird, the I decided  to investigate.  The sound was coming from my neighbors back acre .... when I got closer I new it was a kitten yelling ... I started calling and out from the top of the wood brush was this tiny kitten ..... I kept calling to it,  finally the kitten  made it to the ground and came over to the fence .   I had to climb over the fence with no shoes to rescue the baby.   The kitten was scared to death but came to me anyway.   So guess what..... yep!   I had to bring it in the house made up some baby cereal and milk,  he ate like he was starving.    It's a he....I checked, no it's she...    Now to fatten her up and find a good loving home,  someone who loves cats like I do.    Of coarse Webster had to sit and check her out.    This how I acquired  Webster.    He(Webster)  made the best shop pet when I had my business.    This little girl will be the same way.   Will take her for shots when she is a little older,  I think she is about 5 weeks.   Likes to suck on my finger, what a baby.   Need to run and get her some mama's milk and kitty food to fatten her up.   ENJOY!

The mama is a wild cat that roams the neighborhood.   Feel so bad for her,  can't catch her, she is too wild.  She is from a litter a couple of years ago and has survived so far.   Something has killed the other litters she's had.   I'm surprised this little one made it.   Well she is safe now.   No wonder the dogs have been barking at the fence at night.   I thought it was a raccoon.

Look What I Found

Found this little featherweight at a garage sale ..... paid $10.00 ..... not a bad price.   Needs to be refurbished, has rust on the chrome piece which can be replaced.   Now I need to find someone who does this kind of work.   I have a little featherweight that is in mint condition and works like a charm.   One day it will go to my granddaughter who is the little quilter in the family.

The Quilt Border

Made my decision to add just a simple feathered  flower, pebbles, and small bead board to the border.   The arched ruler that I used for cross hatching came from  http://www.lovetoquilt.com/ .

Practice Quilt

Today I practice cross hatching in the border.....now I have to decide what else to add to the cross hatching..... so tonight I will sit and doodle until I come up with something that I really like.   What do you think  would look good??????   Comments are always welcome!

I also cleaned out the cabinet to store my threads...... at least I can see what I have now.  Before they were store in a plastic bin,  so unhandy.

Small Piece from Mini Quilt

The mini quilt is in the mail,  just waiting to hear if it was received .....will post complete pictures once I hear from her.    Here is a sneak preview of some of the quilting...this was an " oops",  had to rip out the small stitches that did not belong there.  What was I thinking or I wasn't  thinking..lol ...can't say to much otherwise I would give the surprise away.   This was a fun mini swap that Shannon from the  APQS forum got us gals involved in.  Thanks Shannon for A GREAT IDEA!
